Daniel O. Aleshire served as executive director of The Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS) from 1998 to 2017, having joined the ATS staff in 1990 as associate director for accreditation. He holds the BS from Belmont University, the MDiv from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he taught from 1978 to 1990, and an MA and Ph.D. in psychology from George Peabody College for Teachers, (now Peabody College of Vanderbilt University). He has written on theological education in Being There: Culture and Formation in Two Theological Schools, co-authored with Jackson Carroll, Barbara Wheeler, and Penny Long Marler, (Oxford University Press), Earthen Vessels: Hopeful Reflections on the Work and Future of Theological Schools (Eerdmans, 2008) and is currently finishing The Next Future of Theological Education, to be published in 2020. He has also written numerous book chapters and journal articles on theological education.
